What is Adult Day Care?
Adult Day Care is a social and recreational alternative for seniors needing companionship during the day. Oak Park Arms Adult Day Care provides supervised recreational and therapeutic programs to stimulate the mind and body. The Adult Day Care program is geared to enhance participants’ self esteem and well being.

The Oak Park Arms Adult Day Care offers a social program with activities, meals, social programming and individual assistance. The program offers relief to caregivers while they are at work or handling personal business.

Who is eligible to attend the Adult Day Care program?
The Oak Park Arms Adult Day Care Program is available to adults over the age of 55 who would benefit from additional socialization and structure. Participants may have social isolation, physical limitations, be in need of personal care assistance, have some cognitive impairment or have a limited ability to function independently in the community. Aside from personal interviews and evaluations by the Oak Park Arms’ professional staff, assessment from the personal physician is used to evaluate the functional, emotional and mental status for individuals in order to attend Adult Day Care.

What is the admissions process?
Interested participants can contact the Oak Park Arms Adult Day Care Program to schedule a tour and interview with the outreach coordinator. Individuals need to complete an assessment with their personal physician and maintain health records. Preferences and needs are considered so that an individualized plan can be created.

What health services are available?
While still under the care of his or her private physician, each participant is eligible to receive health services to help maintain strength and health. The Oak Park Arms’ Wellness program includes monthly weight and blood pressure monitoring, medication supervision, case management from a nurse, exercise programs, health lectures, healthy well balanced meals and personal assistance.

What hours is the Adult Day Care Program available?
The Oak Park Arms Adult Day Care is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Do you provide transportation?
The Oak Park Arms can provide transportation services locally including pick up and drop off Monday through Friday. We can also assist in pick up and drop off at the Oak Park Arms by greeting participants at the door and escorting them to the program. In the afternoon, the Adult Day Care professionals will escort a participant out to his or her ride.

What kind of activities and programs are offered?
A variety of programming and special interest activities is offered. The Oak Park Arm’ person-centered approach allows staff to be flexible, and plans can be tailored to meet individual preferences. Examples of activities include adult education, games, puzzles, trivia, gardening, arts and crafts, fitness classes, recreational activities, quiet spaces, organizing tasks and discussion groups.

Where are you located?
The Oak Park Arms is located one mile from the Eisenhower Expressway at 408 S. Oak Park Ave. The Adult Day Care is located inside the Oak Park Arms Retirement Community.

What are the fees?
In addition to a non-refundable application fee of $100, participants are asked to commit to at least two nine-hour days per week. Certainly one can come for five days if desired. A nine-hour day includes all activities, continental breakfast, a three-course lunch and afternoon snacks plus “Meet and Greet” as warranted. The basic fee is $65 per day with a provision to extend care to all 11 hours the Adult Day Care is open for an additional fee. There are other services that can be added to the basic plan
